The New York International Auto Show featured many major unveilings this year. Subaru, in particular, was in the spotlight, presenting several new models, including the latest generation of the legendary Outback and a major update for the Solterra. However, the model we were all eagerly anticipating was the Trailseeker, announced just a few days before its official launch.
As its name suggests, the Subaru Trailseeker is a vehicle with enhanced off-road capabilities — and the best part is that it’s a fully electric model. This combination is something fans of the brand have been waiting for a long time.
Powerful and Versatile
Subaru pulled out all the stops with the Trailseeker, which boasts 375 horsepower. This allows the Japanese automaker’s SUV to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in under 4.3 seconds. However, that’s not even its most impressive spec: the Trailseeker offers a towing capacity of 3,300 pounds, far surpassing what most electric SUVs on the market currently offer. In case you were wondering, all-wheel drive comes standard. The X-Mode feature is also standard, optimizing traction on all four wheels depending on the type of terrain.
The Subaru Trailseeker is equipped with a 74.7-kWh battery pack, offering enough energy to deliver a driving range of 420 kilometers on a full charge.
Capable and Rugged
Built on the same platform as the Solterra, the Trailseeker is nonetheless larger. It’s 15 centimeters longer and 2.5 centimeters taller. However, the ground clearance remains the same at 210 millimeters, which is more than enough for serious off-road adventures.
The Trailseeker features a rugged and angular exterior design. Its unpainted composite fender flares hint at its adventurous nature. Inside, Subaru has gone for a more minimalist and modern layout, creating a more luxurious overall experience. The Trailseeker is spacious and versatile, making a strong first impression at the New York International Auto Show. In my opinion, the Subaru Trailseeker is likely to become very popular once it hits the market.
